Coach Joe Fletcher had a large impact on my pitching career. We first met when I was pitching in high school and my high school coach, Mike Paul, introduced us. He gave me a piece of tubing and showed me some exercises. He challenged me to add to my training. The next time I ran into Joe Fletcher was during my senior year at Michigan State University, where Fletch came in half way through the year and just before we were about to start our season. He wanted me to experiment with throwing sidearm for deception and sink. He would cue me to keep my eyes level and head still. Fletch was a fan of pitching guru Dr Tom House and followed his scientific approach to pitching training with absolutes of functional fitness, nutrtition, mechanical efficiency, and mental/emotional managment. He was consistently teaching “you are only as strong as your weakest link”.
Fletch was a high energy guy who loved pitching and pitching training. He came out from MI to shoot some video content for his pitching training video. Fletch challenged me to push through physical limits which also turned into pushing through mental limits. Here is some of the footage that has helped pitchers all over the planet.
Coach Joe Fletcher has since passed away. RIP Fletch you are carrying on through all of us … you inspired so many
